The Lovers

  1. THE LOVERS - An acrylic painting on a 16 x 20 size melamine board. It was a spare time painting, and it perplexes me because I don't know what happend to it. I didn't sell it and it is not in my possession . . .

I remember being at a barbershop one time, looking through a magazine while waiting my turn, and saw a photo of a very large sculpture created by a Russian artist. When I came home I made a rough sketch from my memory of the sculpture in that photo.

Almost a year later I decided to paint that sculpture in a futuristic cityscape, and you can see it in this painting, on top of the stairs; a woman draped over a prone man. I don't know how close I came to rendering that Russian's sculpture accurately.

I used that sculpture again in my drawing for the cover of "Science Fiction Review 46," see item 379.
